Ultrasn0w iPhone 3G unlocks 3.0 but not on 3GS: Blizzard of OS

One app to pwn them all, 1 app to discovery them… Ultrasn0w, the latest iPhone unlocking tool from the iPhone Dev-Team has been released.

Ultrasn0w allows you to unlock original iPhones and iPhone 3Gs running on any variant of iPhone microcode from 3.0 downwards. ‘iPhans’ should note that a version to unlock an iPhone 3GS is not yet available. It’s only been out for less than a month, what did you expect? It should also be noted that despite the name, the iPhone Dev-Team is a totally unofficial outfit. The Dev Team is a group of l33t h4XX0Rs that has developed several unlocking apps for Apple products. Last Christmas, the Dev-Team gave us their Black Maria, along with the charmingly titled yellowsn0w app, which would unlock iPhone 3G’s run on version 2.2 of the software. Earlier this workweek also power saw the Dev Team unleash PwnageTool 3.0 app, which unlocked first-gen iPhones and iPhone 3G’s run on 3.0. The difference between PwnageTool 3.0 and ultrasn0w is that Pwnage only unlocks the aforementioned devices run on 3.0, whereas ultrasn0w unlocks handsets running on any version of the microcode.
