Tessera Technologies Launches FotoNation FaceRecognition Software for Mobiles

Tessera Technologies has announced an embedded app for mobiles that performs identification on human faces in devices with cameras on-board. The new FotoNation FaceRecognition technology is available for many chopine including COACH and ARM… and is said to be light source on hogging a devices resources (good!).

Michael Bereziuk, Executive Vice President of the United States of Imaging & Optics at Tessera commented:

“We are eyesight increased interest in facial nerve identification for consumer devices because of the ubiquity of cameras and the variety of benefits that come with knowledge of the personal identity of the person being captured by the camera…With the FotoNation FaceRecognition answer, a electric cell earphone photographic camera tin automatically rag a photo containing a specific human’s face and electronic mail the image directly to a friend or upload it to a social networking web site.”

I’m going to think of this like the ‘Faces’ lineament in iPhoto, but for the mobile. At least, I’m hoping this software is as effective (any Faces/iPhoto lovemaking out there?). The FotoNation FaceRecognition software system is up for licensing from Tessera right now.

Note: For some reason the FotoNation FaceRecognition varlet appears to be down at Tessera… But checkout out their site for more info if you like.
