The joint venture company, leveraging the six investing companies’ strong backgrounds in cellular communication technology and vast experience in application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) design and foundry manufacturing, will develop feature-rich, small-size, low-power-consumption semiconductor device products equipped with modem functionality. The joint speculation company will focus on developing products for LTE and LTE-Advanced mobile communication standards. The products volition be sold in markets globally.

The envisioned joint venture company will be formed once all parties agree on the details, which are now being worked out through consultation. Following the basic agreement announced today, and as part of preparing to form the joint venture company, DOCOMO plans to invest 450 million Japanese yen, or about 5.8 million USD*, to establish a wholly owned subsidiary, called Communication Platform Planning Co., Ltd. and headed by CEO Mitsunobu Komori, concurrently an executive vice president and Chief Technical Officer of DOCOMO, by the middle of January.

Seems like its due to Verizon getting ready to launch another smartphone this coming Wednesday. The unofficial Samsung Illusion is hitting Verizon on November 23rd.

It would sports a 3.5-inch 480×320 display, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 3-megapixel camera, 512MB RAM, 2GB built-in storage, 2GB microSD card, 1,500mAh assault and battery, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread beneath Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. The device will be available via Direct Fulfillment (phone and web sales) on that date, while an in-store launch set for January 12th.

Now, we get another look at the device, thanks to Samsung themselves. The Korean company has posted up a render of the Illusion on its Flickr account.

There’s not much details on the handset. However, we got a tiny info on it. The Illusion modelling number is SCH-I110 and the gimmick will be “green” device. Aside from those, it would runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread beneath its TouchWiz skin.
