Remember all the hub bub about Apple request Google to shuffle their Latitude overhaul a vane application versus a dedicated application for the iPhone? People thought the troupe was a bit off the beach waggon, but now it appears that there was a particular understanding why Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Latitude for the iPhone was never released. Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) whitethorn have purchased a company called Placebase. C|Net does some investigation and finds it a number odd that Placebase’s website is down, and that the chief executive officer and father of the troupe, Jaron Waldman, has updated his LinkedIn visibility to say he now works for “Apple’s Geo Team”. It’s interesting that Apple would like to enhance the mapping power of the iPhone, but if they build a friend location overhaul that only deeds on their platform versus all chopine, like Google Latitude operates, then what’s the point? Chalk this up as a rumor for now.
