Tablet computers ar a dime bag a 12 these years, but they all have one affair in commons. They’re all slate-style devices with a 1 touch-sensitive touchscreen and run some sort of mobile operating system. Case in breaker point, the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPad is getting a draw of aid as one of this class’s headlining ticket tablets. Well, Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) is at least tinkering with the idea of a new form of tablet computing device. A new patent reveals Qualcomm’s ideas for a fold lozenge with multiple, configurable displays.
According to the patent application, Qualcomm’s multi-showing lozenge thingy will feature a “CPU configured to execute at least I software application having a graphical user port, the CPU being responsive to the fold configuration detector to modify the graphical user interface based on the detected form.” That basically means that the twist tin can detect how the displays are folded (or unfolded) and configured, so that it tin can sartor the display to burst your needs. Among the possible showing orientations ar “a panorama UI, a desktop UI, an diligence UI, a web web browser UI, an alarm clock UI, a media histrion UI, or some other UI.”
We doubtfulness we’d ever see this form of shape-cistron in a smartphone, because a tri-folding consistence can be awkwardly midst. Even if the individual panels ar super affair, there’s no way it’s going away to competitor, say, the Nexus One’s pencil-thin consistence. As a lozenge, though, the tri-panel designing would employment really well.
Now, we just need Qualcomm to make this a reality.
