The Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Nexus One might be one helluva smartphone, but that hasn’t stopped a vocal minority from devising noise over the N1’s problems – especially the spotty 3G network reception that some N1 users ar sightedness on T-Mobile River (NYSE: DT). We previously mentioned the issues that T-Mobile River Nexus One users have been experiencing, to which T-Mobile and Google announced that they’d investigate the substance. Well, it seems that Google has finally called off their investigating and will no longer be pursuing software fixes for the problem. Despite months of investigating the trouble, users continue to have receipt problems on T-Mobile River’s 3G network.
The announcement comes from Google’s N1 documentation forums. Google employee “Ry Guy” posted this today:
Hey guys,I’ve seen some recent meditation on this screw thread about an OTA to improve 3G connectivity and I want to springiness you an update on the billet.While we ar continuing to varan user feedback regarding the 3G performance on the Nexus One, we ar no yearner investigation further technology improvements at this metre.If you are distillery experiencing 3G issues, we recommend that you effort changing your localisation or even the orientation course of your phone, as this may assist in areas with weaker coverage.-Ry Guy
The announcement essentially way that Google is no yearner looking into possible software fixes that would improve 3G receipt. It’s not clear if the problems ar related to software system problems with the N1’s baseband or if the issues ar related to T-Mobile’s 1700Mhz AWS 3G network.
Some T-Mobile River Nexus One users ar up in arms over Google’s apparently conclusion to abandon them in their metre of motive. As public square member lzb302 puts it, “Looks like [Google] are committal to writing us off!”
