We’ll just go ahead and say it: Twitter is a stage business application. That’s right, you’re not eyesight a doubt bell ringer there. We understand that a lot of companies, businesses, and everything in between (us included) manipulation Twitter in 1 mental ability or another. Whether that’s just by advertisement, or transaction with the social networking side of it, there’s always a reason to use Twitter. And it looks like Research In Motion is finally agreeing with everyone out there, because they’ve got 2 applications in the works that will make a lot of Twitter and LinkedIn users happy.

Of course, BlackBerry users rich person a goodness Twitter diligence already available to them in the guise of UberTwitter, but there is a small inkling of promise that an official application will just work better than anything else offered. In this case, the Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones is exercise set to include Mentions, Direct Messages, your Timeline, retweeting, and pursuit (all the essentials for a Twitter client). From the small image we tin see of the application, we’re liking how it looks.

The LinkedIn for BlackBerry application also looks pretty nice. You’re able to look up profiles, send messages, and checkout net updates. However, there’s one lineament that seems to suggest a far bigger thing occurrence here. The ad suggests that you volition be able to see LinkedIn profile photos in your Contacts. Does that mean value the LinkedIn diligence is going to sync with your BlackBerry contacts? We certainly hope so. Lastly, both of these applications ar departure to be offered up for free, but the only semblance of a timeline that RIM is oblation can be found in that legendary “soon” word, so who knows when they’ll actually smash.

But don’t be too sad. Basically, it’s the habitue N97 mini with the Annie Oakley Thunderbird logotype laser etched onto the backrest of the phone and some pre-loaded Annie Oakley subject.

If I was look for a limited variation N97 mini, I would pick that very poise lookin’ RAOUL edition which is (or was) available in Singapore. Then there’s the Gold Edition that is (or again was) offered by Nokia Poland…

Nokia (and other French telephone makers for that matter) keep push limited edition devices all the time and some of these special phones actually reach decent gross sales figures.
The Gowalla locating-based check-in service that has been devising the rounds on Android and iPhone is now available for webOS devices, like the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre and Pixi. Anyone familiar spirit with Foursquare volition roughly know the shtick: go to a situation, check in using a mobile app, and get rewards, both virtual and real. Gowalla differs in that instead of acquiring points for every checkout in, you get a badge, and specific locations have signature badges which ar meant to lure folks out into noteworthy locations. The whole thing “passport” and “seal” nomenclature is supposed to inspire itchy feet in users, apparently.

Like Foursquare, users that don’t discovery the location they wish to checkout into in the Gowalla directory can add it directly, resulting in a sizeable measure of drug user-generated subject in certain hotspots. One of my favourite parts of Gowalla is the virtual geocaching established at each registered location – basically, you can leave a badge at a smirch, and take one that person else has left there. Useless, sure, but definitely fun.

I’ve been using Foursquare for a week or two now, and it’s a delicate balance trying to participate while not irritating everyone pursuit your Facebook and Twitter accounts with updates like “Hey I’m here now! I rich person a badge! I’m eating a sandwich! Yay!”, but there’s a means to pulling it off tactfully. Twitter has implemented location support, and Facebook volition be getting into the locating biz, so love life it or hatred it, it will be hard to get away from location awareness regardless of your sociable network. webOS is all hip and with the sociable networks, seeing as how they work with indigen apps through Synergy, so it seems like a cancel destination for Gowalla and other apps in the check-in category.

For those look for something more closely resembling a game, MyTown is in the same park, but allows you to “own” businesses you checkout into regularly, and mission fictional rent to others who check in, variety of like Monopoly. For the critics out there, Yelp has implemented check-ins with their mobile app, as well as confidential information/review committal to writing. As for Gowalla, golf course to all of their apps, including webOS apps for the Palm pre and Pixi, tin be found below.

AT&T today announced the successful windup of a live meshing environment field test of 100-Gigabit backbone meshing technology. The test advances exploitation of the next multiplication of backbone meshing technology that will documentation growing volumes of radio and wired Internet and information dealings in the days to come.

During the test, AT&T field tested the new Cisco CRS-3 Carrier Routing System, conducting a standards-ready, I-flow, 100-Gigabit engineering test in a live meshing environment. For this test, AT&T used Opnext century Gigabit CFP client side modules and genus Ixia’s “K2″ 100 Gigabit dealings source and analyser.

AT&T’s trial also demonstrated a I-carrier 100-Gigabit transmission with real number-meter coherent processing on a 900-kilometre deployed ultra long-draw transport link between Pelican State and Florida using Opnext optical equipment.

The successful field test is the latest exercise of AT&T introduction in advanced IP networking technology. AT&T in 2008 completed the world’s largest deployment of current manufacture-criterion 40-Gigabit meshing engineering in its U.S. IP moxie network. And in 2008 and 2009, the company led teams that completed two laboratory trials of 100 Gigabit engineering that set new records for bandwidth transmittal. The century-Gigabit technology is expected to be ready for commercial deployment over the next few years.

“This successful field test is a key milepost in our ongoing effort to deliver the industry’s most advanced and capable IP moxie meshing,” said Gospel According to John Donovan, AT&T’s Chief Technology Officer. “The AT&T IP backbone network today carries nearly 19 petabytes of dealings on an average business mean solar day, support our wireless, wired and endeavor customers’ ever-growing demand for wireless and wired broadband applications. Research and development milestones like our 100-Gigabit trials help to ensure that the AT&T meshing is always ready to sports meeting our customers’ needs.”

The recently completed 100 Gigabit field test marks several guiding light industry achievements, including:

* Successful single-attack aircraft carrier 100-Gigabit transmission with real-meter coherent processing.

* Demonstration of 100-Gigabit Ethernet I-flow router capacity.

* Field demonstration of century-Gigabit engineering with a standards-compliant 100GBASE-LR4 I-mode MSA interface.

A little late to the Android biz, Gowalla has officially released its app Gowalla diligence for the Android Market! Now Gowalla is stage setting itself up to go drumhead to head with Foursquare, not to mention Google Buzz, officially in the Android space.

A few weeks ago, we previewed the beta variation of Gowalla, and now– just over II weeks later, we wealthy person an functionary release for Android earpiece holders to manipulation at large. Within the functionary variation compared to the beta, a ‘trips’ tab has been added to the diligence, ensuring you’re not missing a step.

One feature that is lacking on the Gowalla diligence that you volition find in the Foursquare app is a widget. However, in my use of the Foursquare appliance, it was fairly unreliable. It’s in no agency a deal-circuit breaker to leave-taking one out, and it could always pop music up later in a future update. I always use widgets, even when they service little functionality. Gotta have em. Also, as I’d said in my previous article, Gowalla is much nicer on the eyes than the Foursquare app, yet lacks some functionality that you’d be used to on Foursquare. But as similar as the II services may be, I can not expect them to do the exact same things in the exact same way. It’s all about which I deeds for you.

So if you’ve been waiting for a formidable Foursquare competitor, it looks like the lineament-rich Gowalla application may fit the bill. Personally, as a user of Foursquare for quite a while, I think I’ll be sticking to it, but I’m more than volition to give Gowalla a effort. As a whole, my pursuit in mixer networking is beginning to wane, so as I commencement using Gowalla, hopefully my interest volition be revived. In either case, the ware between Gowalla and Foursquare is just beginning in the mobile space, in possibility– Which one volition you be using?

In North America, BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) is currently the smartphone to beat, but the meteoric ascension of the iPhone volition continue fountainhead into 2011 and nab RIM’s number I market share spot, according to Trefis. This determination was based on the open outpacing of outgrowth Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) has enjoyed with the iPhone. In 2007, iPhone outgrowth sat 0.3%, and in 2009, they were at 2%, while RIM went from 1% to 3% in the same period. By 2011, Trefis is forecasting Apple’s mobile market part will smasher eleven-plus and RIM volition stretch 8%.

Even as I of the BlackBerry fold, I uncovering it hard to deny this contingency. Apple has a ludicrously large marketing budget, which volition continue to be used to to capitalize RIM’s buttoned-down simulacrum and win the dead Black Maria and vacant minds of the masses. Despite the rivalry, the latest forecasts for RIM continue to be positive – BlackBerry distillery has more than a little bout left field in her, that’s for sure.

XS Games has announced the early Spring 2010 release of The Red Star for iPhone and PSPgo. Previously released on PlayStation2, The Red Star is a mashup of top down taw and beat ‘em up gameplay, based upon the graphic novel of the same epithet by Christian Gossett.

“The Red Star is a proudly old schoolhouse combining of classic action genres, much in the spirit of Contra and Streets of Rage,” said Steve Grossman, Chief Executive Officer of XS Games. “PSPgo and iPhone ar the perfective platforms for this biz in terms of controls, visuals, and monetary value.”

The Red Star brings to liveliness the dystopian United Republics of the Red River Star (URRS), a mystical and technologically advanced alternate reality resembling Soviet Soviet Union. In this alternate reality, the world has been wracked by vicious conflict between the world’s powerful nations, who use advanced technology to harness soldiers’ latent mental powers. Players can choose to play as one of the graphic novel’s ternion most prominent characters: Maya Antares, a powerful sorceress in search of her husband doomed in battle, Kyuzo, Maya’s personal guard as well as a powerful fighter aircraft, or Makita, a quick and agile warrior forced to abandon her life as a worldly concern-course athlete when her homeland was invaded.

Compared to PlayStation2, the iPhone and PSPgo versions offer fresh visual polish and improved controls. The Red Star is the perfective “pick up and play” military action biz for when on the go. For more selective information, mouse click here.
