Remember when we reported that Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE)’s Xperia X10 would not be receiving multi-touching capabilities, even after it was upgraded from Android 1.6 to 2.1? Well it looks like the guys over at AndroidAndMe have heard otherwise.

Not only did we hear from Sony Ericsson’s PR squad that the X10 would not receive multi-touching, we heard that it tin’t. Supposedly there was a hardware issue, making the device incapable of apprehension-to-zoom. There seems to be person “on the inside” who recently spoke up, saying that the X10 volition receive the Android 2.1 update in Sep, and multi-touching will surely be enabled.

This is big news for some who wanted this gimmick, but were turned off that it wouldn’t be able to get these capabilities. I don’t manipulation multi-touch all that often on my Nexus One, but it was irritating for a long meter that I didn’t even have the choice. The X10 is a beautiful gimmick, and the custom UI that Sony Ericsson has put option on circus tent of it is stunning. To see something like multi-touching be left out on such a gorgeous gimmick has got to be a major letdown for some who were eyeing it.

But that brings up another thought. We rich person no idea when this device will actually smash the US. I know most of our readers are not from the US, so it may not matter of its handiness here. AndroidAndMe brings up a goodness point. Even if the X10 does make it to the US with multi-touch in towage, how much volition it matter? The device is nothing to wag your head at, but with devices like the Droid Incredible, and the HTC Evo 4G coming in the near future tense, how much of those who wanted the X10 ar willing to passing these devices up that certainly beat it in their own shipway?

So does the fact that the X10 whitethorn receive multi-touching capabilities make you want to wait it out, and get it when it’s finally released?

More newsworthiness advent our way from the Olympics. It seems this year is the class for customized, limited edition phones. We regard more multiplication were like this, to be honest. We can never get enough limited edition things. Because, well, they’re limited. Anyway, this time we’ve got Nokia manufacturing only 200 of these rare gems. (It’s means more than that other limited version gimmick we heard about.) In summation to those 200, Nokia gave three of them to the Annie Oakley-sponsored athletes at this class’s Winter Olympics.

This isn’t the first meter the N97 mini has been treated to the limited edition way of life, though. In fact, if we were going off limited version versions, the N97 mini would be a pretty big hit. Of course of action, it still has that whole thing “N97″ nickname, which we’re sure is bringing some people down all over the worldly concern. It doesn’t damage that it’s a better phone than its big brother, but distillery, sometimes those shadows extend pretty far.

Unfortunately, from what we can tell, there’s not much changed on this variant of the mini. Yes, there is a optical maser-etched symbolization on the backrest of the phone, and it does have a great gas alloy finish to it, but we’re thinking that’s not enough. After all, the RAOUL variant was pretty intense. There’s a few goodies in the box, though. Like some Team Oakley stuff. Other than that, not much. But, if you’re a buff of Oakley (or Nokia), and want a earphone that stands out above the rest, then this is a great means to make that happen. Start scouring those online auction sale sites, ladies and gentlemen, these ar saltation to go quick.

Having used the N900 for the shoemaker’s last twosome of weeks, I could see it woof a significant (if specific) niche and give a much-needed edge versus the entrenched contention.
