You know, I jumped on the “iPhone HD” bandwagon a long time ago as the next epithet for Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s handset and it looks like the next version volition be able to track record videos at 720p solving.

From what we’ve seen of the leaked next iPhone, we already know that the French telephone will wealthy person a different shape cistron, a higher-resolution blind and a boosted photographic camera. But code in the iPhone 4.0 beta 3 suggests users volition also be able to record in high-definition. The preset values in the video recording computer code are:

AVCaptureSessionPreset640×480 AVCaptureSessionPreset1280×720

This would be a great addition to the next iPhone and I tin can already see the TV commercials this would spawn. What’s more, Apple really does need to rap it out of the ballpark with the next hardware upgrade because the competition is rapidly contracting up. The iPhone 3GS was pretty much the power of the hill cobbler’s last summer but we’ve already seen some amazing handsets from other players. HTC’s Droid Incredible lives up to its name, the EVO 4G will marry WiMax good with a great designing and even Research In Motion (NSDQ: RIMM) whitethorn be stepping up its game with BlackBerry 6.

I think HD video recording will soon become board stake in the mobile world, as Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)’s Kin Two (or Kin2) tin can do it and this is clearly not aiming for the hemorrhage margin customers. Apple’s effectuation of video transcription on the iPhone 3GS was pretty solidness too, as you could easily trim clips and send them. Knowing how much AT&ere;T (New York Stock Exchange: T)’s network has suffered thanks to the iPhone, I wouldn’t be surprised if there volition be a 30-second limit for HD videos that you tin can upload.

We’ll know all the inside information in just a few weeks friends, as Apple is expected to introduce the next iPhone at its World Wide Developers Conference June 7. Why yes, we’ll be there live blogging, thanks for asking.

A new cool application has hit Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s AppStore during the weekend. It’s called Field Agent and it’s a joint venture project between Mill Creek Software and NorthStar Partnering Group, based in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The app’s main pitch is that it helps iPhone users make money. Hera’s how it works:

First, there is a server component at www.fieldagent.net that is visited by clients and agents. There, they situation local job requirements, which ar then shown in the Field Agent iPhone app. It’s that easy and we like it!

Bare in mind that we’re talking about simple information gathering tasks, that ar usually paid between $2 and $8. Among the jobs listed in the pressure release are retail pricing and exhibit information checkout, outcome images, photos of items for sale, and consumer surveys that tin be completed anywhere an iPhone can be used.

In addition to the answer provided, Field Agent for iPhone also transmits some other information backrest to clients such as agent history, Global Positioning System location, time and appointment stamps and photograph confirmations — all of this ar used for substantiation purposes.

As I said, I like the approximation and I’m look forward to see some early figures – whether people and companies actually manipulation Field Agent and what are the benefits.

Remember how that fourth-multiplication iPhone leaked earlier this workweek? Well, it looks like the police ar going to get involved to see if there were any laws broken.

This is the supposed floor: An Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) baseband applied scientist was testing a paradigm next-gen iPhone out in the wilderness and then he had some delicious German beer and left the highly-coveted handset in a prevention. Some scumbag found it, supposedly tried to return it to Apple but was rebuffed. So, he of course of action sells it to Gizmodo for at least $5,000 and that web site received a boatload of dealings.

You tin argue about the moral philosophy of this but the Silicon Valley police ar going to investigate if there were any laws broken because Apple considered the device stolen. Apple has reportedly spoken with the police force about this investigating and the Santa Clara County’s information processing system law-breaking sectionalisation is trying to kind this out. Of short letter is Golden State penal code 485:

One who finds lost property under lot which give him cognition of or means of inquiry as to the true proprietor, and who appropriates such property to his own use, or to the use of another human not entitled thereto, without first making reasonable and just efforts to find the proprietor and to restore the prop to him, is guilty of larceny.

There’s some gray areas with what is “reasonable and just efforts,” as the person who sold the handset said he tried to running down feather the proprietor. Of course of action, that floor could be complete bullshit to cover up for some hardcore corporate espionage. As for Giz, there’s also some concern that it could face charges for buying and possessing stolen property. In a needlessly cheeky response to Apple, the publishing made it clear that it didn’t know the handset was stolen when it purchased it.

Nothing beat generation a goodness crime play folks, so we’ll hold our eyes on this one.

Hera we are at another variation of SlashPhone’s Week in Review. We’re glad you could shuffle it, as we take a look back at the last week in the electric cell headphone manufacture, and bring it all backrest to your mind’s oculus before we start a new, newsworthiness-filled workweek. We’re excited about what’s been, but we’re also look forward to what’s coming. So, before we get too distracted by all the glisten and glamour of the future tense, let’s proceeds a behind and looking over what the workweek before brought us.

Monday, April 12th:

As Apple moves forward with their latest edition of the epic iPhone OS, we welcome the new 4th multiplication. But, with the inexorable change that we all mustiness facing, we also mustiness understand that products of past will be forgotten. That’s exactly what Apple has made official: they won’t be support the master iPhone in the advent months, or into the future tense. So, if you’ve been waiting to rise, the next iPhone may be what you motivation to do.

Microsoft officially announced their social-networking devices, the Kin One and Kin Two on Monday as well. The two devices are specifically aimed for teenagers or “social” networkers, and the deuce devices couldn’t looking any more different from ace another. We tin’t imagine the Kin One volition see much face time with folks, but the Kin Two isn’t that bad of a device. Definitely worth pickings a second look.

Tues, April 13th:

When Opera Mini was launched on the iPhone, the earth was stunned. But, it didn’t last long, because consumers quickly acted on the new addition to the App Store. Records were probably broken, as the mobile browser was downloaded one million multiplication. Pretty impressive numbers, if you ask us. (And probably Opera.)

HTC, in the mean value time, is apparently speculating over whether or not they want to develop their own mobile Operating System. Google does it, Research In Motion and Apple do it, and all of those companies ar insanely popular and successful. So, why shouldn’t they? With all this talking of them buying Palm, that may not be too far from the accuracy.

Wed, Apr 14th:

Someone at Verizon Wireless must rich person jumped the gun, because ace mean solar day before the official announcement regarding the Droid Incredible by HTC, the splash varlet for the gimmick’s “Coming Soon” good hit the Net. It showed the final examination testament to what everyone already knew: the new handset was advent to Verizon Wireless. It was pulled from online shelves soon, but then relaunched with a watchword protection the same day. And then, sure sufficiency, it’s now public again for everyone to see.

So, when’s the new iPhone leaving to be unveiled? Everyone is pointing at June 22nd, and we’re pointing with them. A booking for the appointment at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on that appointment confirms it, more or less. So, save the appointment for late June, as we expect a steel new, shiny iPhone to get announced.

Th, Apr 15th:

Sure sufficiency, only a mean solar day after the coming soon page broke the Internet’s mantle, Verizon Wireless finally officially announced the new Droid Incredible by HTC. So, while everyone was wait for the Nexus One, it seems that Verizon Wireless volition be releasing their own branded, 3.7-in AMOLED, Android 2.1-powered French telephone on Apr 29th. Are you excited yet?

Fri, April 16th:

Sony Ericsson whitethorn not be the best headphone maker on the planet, but we’re still fond of them. And, we’re glad to hear that they managed to shuffle quite a big profit this last poop. Their scheme to sell a fewer measure of handsets, but put option them in a far more pricier bracket has worked out for them. And, accordingly, they are going to stick to that methodology for goodness quantity.

Saturday, Apr 17th:

The iPhone 4G/HD hit the floor in a San Jose bar, and pictures immediately made their means to the Internet. There’s still some speculation about the authenticity of the device, but we tin honestly see Apple changing their pace with the iPhone’s designing, and leaving a number out of their loge to create the next generation piece of computer hardware. We also like those two buttons on the position, too. Who knows what they do, though. We’ll have to waiting and see if it turns out to be real number.

Winscape just announced a great undertaking today, which, though the mobile component is only secondary coil, is very, very sang-froid. Basically, with this organization, you install 2 46″ HD monitors tail end some windowpane frames in your habitation that exhibit an image (up to 4096 x 4096) or a video (up to 1920 x 1080, including sound). With the aid of electronic computer software, an infrared detector and a Wii remote control, the effigy adjusts as you move, creating the illusion of linear perspective. The icing on the bar is an iPhone app which allows you to variety the effigy or video recording at the drop curtain of a hat. Feel like glancing out your window into outer quad? Done. Want to go for a power train ride? It’s just a click away. Need some soothing medusa? You got it.

What bogs down feather the perspective magic is the fact that the infrared frequency detector is a hefty necklace, so you really have to leg the experience. Personally, I’d like to see if the iPhone app could detect accelerometer movements and adjust the effigy based on information streamed in via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, maybe even skip the Wii remote altogether. Alternatively, there are projects which plug an infrared receiver into the iPhone, which could at least avoid the necessary for a bulky, usage-made peripheral. Even without the perspective legerdemain, this is pretty freakin’ sweetness.

Though this is all the dearie undertaking of an ambitious applied scientist, a outfit should be available to purchase sometime this summertime in the neighbourhood of $2500 to $3000 so you could do it in your own home. There ar plenty of tips and videos at Winscape’s home varlet if you’ve got the cojones to try this all out yourself. Be sure to nab the Winscape Remote app for iPhone whenever you’re all done.

Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but in some recent iPhone OS 4 screenshots I took in this weekend, something struck me as odd. Take a look at the shots above (via MacRumors). Notice anything? That’s right, gone is the ‘Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’ textual matter on the hunt button, swapped with the much more generic ‘Search’.

Interesting, no? Is this a sign that Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) is dumping Google as their mobile hunt? Or, perhaps this simpleton means there will be more hunt locomotive options when it comes to OS 4. You know, choose your default locomotive from Google, Yahoo!, BING, etc… That would seem to make the most sense for me. Another understanding could simply be that Apple and Google haven’t come to price on the default hunt for iPhone OS 4 just yet, in which case, developers have been exploitation ‘Search’ where ‘the Google’ used to be.

I suppose Apple could also be working in the own hunt locomotive, but lets get real number here. Apple needs to stick to their core competencies, if for some reason they branch out to hunt, wellspring, you can slap me silly. Besides, I’m not sure how confident I’d be using ‘Apple’ search results. I can see it now… You enter a hunt interrogation, Apple receives it, and submits it to a rigorous blessing process. If approved, you’ll get your results… However, you’ll have to wait a workweek or so for the resultant role, and chances are you’ll be denied anyway.

There’s no dubiousness in my mind that the iPad is a polarizing topic. Those that love it, love it a draw… and those that hate it, well, they seem to hate it a draw. However, for those that capitulation in the ‘fan’ category, it hasn’t really mattered what your occupancy is, what your passions are, or heck, even how old you ar. Take a look at the video recording above. This is centred year-old Old Dominion. Her family unit purchased a new iPad for her to help celebrate her 100th birthday. Incredible. It’s her first base computer, and as you can clearly see, she has been busy with it and loves the mend thing to bits.

Congratulations on centred years Virginia, and I hope you get a draw of enjoyment out of that iPad for days to come!

This will provide more information on your potential interrogation in the drop-down box. Why would you wish this?

“For example, let’s say you’re flight to London and wish to know: Is my flight on meter? Or what is the exchange pace of the hammer? As you type the escape “Ba 284″ or “Usd in pounds”, the answers ar provided right below the hunt loge, without having to wait for the results varlet,” Google said in its mobile web log.

Go right field ahead to google.com for this feature but this seems kind of useless on my Droid. I just hit the softkey on the home page whenever I need to do a hunt.
