After the iPhone (AppStore link) and BlackBerry, Urbanspoon is “going Android.” The application keeps all the functionality (and UI) of the iPhone edition, allowing users to find restaurants based on monetary value, stream location (nearby) and culinary style. Moreover, Urbanspoon users can pace and reexamination restaurants, providing other folks with the real-life information that can be/is useful when picking a berth to dine.

Probably one of Urbanspoon’s most popular features is the random topical anesthetic restaurant finder, and it’s of course of action included in the Android edition. Simple wag the phone, and the diligence will suggest a berth nearby.

As for the Android-specific features, I haven’t caught much. Actually, it’s fair to add that it takes advantage of the bigger screen found in devices such as the Nexus One and Moto Droid/Milestone to appearance more options.

And that’s about it. If you like it, simply search for “Urbanspoon” in the Android Market and take it from there.

Google (NSDQ: GOOG) has already played with part search on their vanilla app, but now they’re delivery the proficiency to their mobile maps diligence on Android. More importantly, they’re including transit and walking directions in the update. It’s actually pretty funny timing, since I’ve been acting around with the Rogers (New York Stock Exchange: RCI) HTC Magic (follow-up advent this week) and 1 of my first complaints was the deficiency of passage directions that the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) app has already been enjoying for awhile. Another interesting and new lineament is called “Updates”, that lets you append a message to your Latitude location for friends to see; something along the lines of “Hey guys, I’ve got a great view from over here” or “Don River’t come over here, there ar, like, a TON of zombies”. It would be cool if this feature were populace so you could just talking openly to whoever was in the area, like a localized Twitter. To get the update, discovery Google Maps in the Market and get downloading.

Update: Just installed, and I tin’t seem to discovery Street View or figure out how to shuffle the part identification go… Hmm… Now you rich person to long-press on a route and tap the savoir-faire bubble for Street View.
