On Nov. 22, 2011, the Federal Communications Commission indicated a proposed order was circulating that would designate for hearing the applications of AT&T Inc. and Deutsche Telekom AG For Consent To Assign or Transfer Control of Licenses and Authorizations, WT Docket No. 11-65. On November 23, 2011, AT&T Inc. and Deutsche Telekom AG electronically withdrew without prejudice, as of that date, the pending applications listed in the Public Notice released by the Federal Communications Commission on April 28, 2011 in that proceeding. Associated manual notification of withdrawal filings also are being made.

AT&T Inc. and Deutsche Telekom AG are continuing to pursue the sale of Deutsche Telekom’s U.S. wireless assets to AT&T and are taking this step to facilitate the consideration of all options at the FCC and to focus their continuing efforts on obtaining antitrust clearance for the transaction from the Department of Justice, either through the litigation pending before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Case No. 1:11-cv-01560 (ESH) or alternate agency. As soon as practical, AT&T Inc. and Deutsche Telekom AG intend to seek the necessary FCC approval.

As a result of the FCC’s action, AT&T expects to recognize a pretax accountancy charge of $4 billion ($3 billion cash and $1 billion book value of spectrum) in the 4th quarter of 2011 to reflect the potential break up fees due Deutsche Telekom in the event the transaction does not receive regulatory approval.

LightSquared™, the nation’s first base wholesale-only integrated radio broadband and satellite mesh, formally presented the company’s modified spectrum plan to the FCC and proposed a comprehensive solution to the GPS block issuance. This plan volition service as a foundation for the building of a new radio broadband mesh that volition bring earthly concern-class Internet inspection and repair to the United States, including rural areas and other underserved communities and inject new rivalry in an increasingly consolidating wireless market.

LightSquared’s proposition outlines a three-office result for resolving GPS interference issues involving GPS devices, which was detailed in recommendations filed at the FCC today. GPS device test results, which were also filed at the FCC today, show unequivocally that the interference is caused by the GPS twist manufacturing business’s decision over the cobbler’s last ogdoad years to design products that depend on using spectrum assigned to other FCC licensees.

Now LightSquared is stepping forward to assist firmness the problem. In dividing line, the GPS device manufacturers, unlike relevant government agencies, have been largely uninterested in determination a win-win result. Rather, their only result to a problem of their own making is to requirement that the government simply interference LightSquared from exploitation the company’s own spectrum to roll out the first base wholesale-only wireless broadband mesh for the entire nation – an economic benefit worth as much as $120 billion to consumers. This is a trouble that the GPS industry could have avoided by arming their devices over the last several years with filters that price as little as five cents each.

“This issue volition be resolved by goodness information, smarting engineers and good trust trouble resolution dialog. The end-result will be continuity for the reliable and safe GPS organisation we wealthy person come to depend on along with a new high gear speed radio network that volition provide huge benefits to consumers,’’ said Sanjiv Ahuja, LightSquared Chairman and CEO.

Despite the GPS industry’s claims, the FCC does not face a stark option between reliable GPS inspection and repair and a new rival in the broadband market. In fact, the examination results released today show LightSquared’s proposed solution resolves block for approximately 99.5 percentage of all commercial GPS devices- including 100 percentage of the 300 million GPS-enabled cell phones.

While issues remain with preciseness GPS devices, LightSquared is fully committed to determination a result. It is unthinkable that a country which recently completed a complex digital-television system passage involving nearly every household in the U.S. volition be stymied by a problem posed by approximately 200,000 GPS devices.

But LightSquared cannot solve this problem on its own. It needs the cooperation of the GPS industry. LightSquared believes cooperation is the least to expect from an manufacture that built a byplay by piggy-backing on the federal government’s GPS mesh without any investiture in infrastructure or spectrum. A recent Brattle Group survey showed that the commercial message GPS industry’s ability to manipulation the U.S. government’s GPS network amounts to an $18 billion federal subsidy.

LightSquared is fully committed to a rubber and robust GPS inspection and repair. In fact, LightSquared will not launching unless the FCC, in reference with the NTIA, is satisfied that all reasonable interference concerns wealthy person been addressed.

In the meantime, LightSquared looks forward to workings with the FCC, NTIA, and other federal agencies in its effort to uncovering solutions so that it tin can relocation forward with its architectural plan to bring world-class radio broadband services and needed rivalry to 260 million Americans in 2015.

Now this is interesting. HTC has just filed a new slider phone for examination at the FCC. Not much is known about the gimmick, but by look at the available buttons on the earphone, it could very wellspring be an Android gimmick. Let’s promise so, since the last HTC Android device with a full QWERTY keyboard was the G1, and expression it’s dated is an understatement when you grasp it against the likes of some of HTC’s newer devices.

The device could be hit AT&T (NYSE: T), or some Canadian River carriers if or when it’s released. The only name we have for it at the moment is the PC70110, its model number. The little we do know is that it supports WiFi and Bluetooth. Nothing amazing there, as they’re expected in smartphones today. Judging from the picture, the gimmick may have the almost criterion 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen found on nearly all Android devices. There is what looks like an oblong optical trackpad below the capacitive home, menu, back and hunt buttons.

It’s an interesting look phone. Nothing extravagant about it, just a simpleton yellow-bellied terrapin. The sister amobarbital sodium trim along the keyboard has got to go though.

Knowing HTC, I would not be surprised if the gimmick will come in various colours. I would be surprised if this baby had a Snapdragon mainframe in it though. If I was to give my best guesswork, this device whitethorn have the same internals as the Legend, which is nonentity to complain about. If this indeed does twist out to be a (somewhat) lower berth remainder device, I definitely see the logical system. HTC is throwing out unity high-remainder smartphone after another. Nexus One, HD2, Droid Incredible, Desire, Evo 4G, all are shucks powerful phones with big screens.

Looks like they’re mix it up a act, and I’m very curious about this device. We’ll keep you up to date as we find out more. Who’s ready to spring up their G1?

And it seems they architectural plan to do just that, or at least a new gimmick found on the FCC’s website marked as “O8F-CASG” suggests so. But don’t yield my news for it, PreCentral thinks this may be the case. As a matter of fact, they believe AT&T volition launch the device on or around May 10th. Their reasoning is simple – on that date Federal Communications Commission will release the photograph of the device and everyone will know what’s advent. The same has happened with Verizon and Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, for instance. Waiting and seeing is all we can do at the moment, and eventually promise when AT&T launches the device it will market it as everyone’s smartphone, not just as a gimmick that tin “keep up with the ma.”

A fresh French telephone from asus has passed through the Federal Communications Commission, complete with 3G documentation on T-Mobile (NYSE: DT)’s 1700/2100 bands. asus’s briny interest in mobile these years has been in junction with Garmin for their joint nьvifone sword. Odds ar good that it will be running Android, but the lukewarm reception of the G60 on AT&ere;T has us a little worried about future products in the family unit. The concept of a smartphone that excels in Global Positioning System services and navigation is a solidness one, but depends entirely on the effectuation. With any luck, we’ll hear more at CES starting tomorrow.
