Expected May 2010 26th Apr 2010

We oasis’t seen much from RIM in the past tense year or so, although handset gross sales rich person been very strong scorn our misgivings about the BlackBerry manufacturer’s stream direction.

The BlackBerry Pearl 3G is the first new Pearl "candy bar" headphone since the 8110 announced over deuce days ago, and it’s the first base Pearl handset to documentation 3G. It’s amazing to think that the Pearl has come all this means without 3G support, but in fact criterion electronic messaging trading operations really father’t motivation anything more than plain old GPRS.

This is more than the old edition of the Pearl with 3G support slapped on, the Pearl 3G comes with a very high gear solving 360 x 400 pel exhibit, a 3.2 megapixel photographic camera with flash and autofocus, support for 802.11 b, g and n wireless local area network (ace of the few phones that supports the new, faster 802.11n protocol). Inside is a 624Mhz C.P.U. (twice as fast as the 8110) and 256MB memory. The Pearl 3G has GPS documentation built in, and it supports Bluetooth 2.1 and microSD memory cards up to 32GB as well.

The operating system and drug user interface has been upgraded to version 5.0 of the BlackBerry OS, and it now supports synching with iTunes and Windows Media Player. From what we can see of the drug user interface, the whole thing matter has been tidied up from the previous version which looked rather cluttered.

One key feature is that the Pearl 3G has dropped the trackball on the front and has replaced it with a small optical trackpad. In our experience the trackpad is much easier to manipulation than the old trackball, and it should be more resilient too. There are dedicated media keys on the very top of the Pearl 3G to make medicine playback easier.

There are two different versions of the Pearl 3G, the 9100 comes with a familiar spirit version of the SureType keyboard, the 9105 uses a traditional <a href='http://your-mobile-phone.net/video_review_of_lg_s_incite_for_at_t.html' title='Video review of LG's Incite for AT&T'>mobile phone layout for the keypad which whitethorn wellspring appealingness to new customers. The overall designing is much smarter and more conventional than previous versions of the Pearl, and it’s nice to see a capable messaging smartphone in a such a pouch friendly design.

The large 1150 mAh battery is quoted as gift up to 5.5 hours talktime on 3G networks, and overall the Pearl 3G weighs just 93 grams and measures 108 x 50 x 13mm. This is a tri-banding UMTS/HSDPA device with documentation for quadrangle-band GSM, so we expect this to twist up on tons of different carriers worldwide.

RIM say that the Pearl 3G should be available from May 2010 onwards, although at the consequence we rich person no steering on pricing or networks.

BlackBerry Pearl 3G Promo Video

This is a legal brief promo from RIM showing how impossibly glamorous your sprightliness will be if you buy ace of these.

Motorola is sending out a much-needed microcode update to the CLIQ, addressing many issues. To what extent, we’re not sure, but this MotorBlur gimmick needed some kind of updating. Unfortunately it’s not the Android 2.1 update everyone has been hoping for.

T-Mobile (New York Stock Exchange: DT)’s first base Motorola (NYSE: MOT test) Android gimmick whitethorn not be the best phone you tin get on the land’s 4th largest aircraft carrier, but it’s still a nice device. If you can get over the limping of MotoBlur, that is. The new update is said to address quite a few issues that have been bugging owners of the device since the start. The update includes bettor battery life, improved touching screen sensitivity, faster GPS, bettor audio frequency quality for calls, and more. So far, we oasis’t heard from anyone who has received the update yet, nor do we know if the update addresses the issues completely. It’s not clear if the device will motivation another update for all issues to be ironed out, but anything is better than nothing!

Right now, if I were to base on balls into a T-Mobile computer storage and was looking to buy an Android device, it would be a pretty tough call option whether to pick the CLIQ, or the MyTouch 3G. The CLIQ has a keyboard, and a directional lodgings that is placed on the left, which appeals to me for using emulators, like NESoid. On the other helping hand, the MyTouch 3G looks nicer to me boilersuit in my ruling, and has a much wider dev pedestal, with many different ROMs available to it I could hack my way through. And, you know, no MotoBlur on the MT3G is a big summation.

With news of this update advent down the pipes, it would shuffle the determination that much harder. But I think I’ll spliff with my Nexus One.

A full leaning of the update is below:

Relocated “End Call”Improved Text MessagingImproved Battery LifeImproved Touch Screen SensitivityImproved Audio Quality for CallsImproved MOTOBLUR Seth-Up ScreenBetter Audio RoutingImproved Caller NotificationFaster GPSSupport For Additional Windows Media Formats CompatibleBluetooth ImprovementsSIM Card ManagementAdditional StabilityThe Latest Versions of Google (NSDQ: GOOG)Updated Quickoffice

Glad to see Motorola has their users’ backs, and push out updates to improve their user experience. For anyone who has the Cliq, and has received the update, how’s it treating you? Let us know if the comments below!

Adobe’s Connect Pro Mobile River for the iPhone and iPod Touch is a solidness, free means to connect to Web conferences on the go, but what’s really interesting is that this is the first base app that has shoehorned Flash on the platform. The app was created in Flash Professional CS5 beta and uses Adobe’s Packager converter to work on the iPhone.

As for the app itself, it gives mobile workers the power to union Adobe Connect session over Wi-Fi or 3G. It includes video recording and blind-sharing capabilities, live text chatting and VoIP merging audio can be streamed to the handsets. The app is free but the Connect service costs businesses at least $45 a month.

I poked around with the app a little and it looked clean and functional, which is a good indicator of what can come from Adobe’s converter. Flash developers distillery greatly outnumber iPhone developers but we all know Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) chief executive officer Steve Jobs isn’t a big buff of Flash. The Packager should be a good workaround for some Flash content creators to get on this increasingly-important chopine.
