BSNL launches first base urban WiMAX mesh in Southern Republic of India

India’s Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched the first base urban WiMAX network in Ernakulam, a district of Kerala in southern India, and WiMAX signals also reach Tripunithura, Kalamassery, Aluva and Angamaly municipalities.

Currently the network is comprised of 25 base stations and the architectural plan is to bring the pattern to 900 to expand throughout Kerala in a II-phase expansion program.

The first base form volition include 450 towers, coating all major cities, territorial dominion headquarters and prominent towns. 49 towers volition be set up in Ernakulam and Idukki districts in the second base phase next year, extending the coverage to panchayat areas as fountainhead.

BSNL is initially oblation WiMAX on two unlimited tariff plans, with bandwidth ranging from 512kbps to 2Mbps. The home plan costs Rs 999, piece the business architectural plan has a price of Rs 1,999 per calendar month.
